Chewy.com makes it so convenient and easy to buy dog food or cat food with their 1-2 day shipping with $49+ purchase. But–more importantly–how do you find a Chewy promo code in 2023 so you can save money on dog food?

I initially signed up for an account and didn’t make a purchase right away. Bonus points for adding an item to your cart but waiting a few days to check out. They sent me a $15 off coupon code in my email and the same one in paper format in snail mail a few days later! In fact, I’ve gotten several $15 coupons over the two years I’ve been a customer. Save 30%-40% on your first auto-ship order with Chewy. Just check the “Autoship and save” button next to the price of your favorite dog or cat food.

Stock up, because 30-40% off dog/cat food is a great deal! After your first autoship, you can cancel if you don’t like the price, or you can still save an additional 5% off your additional auto-ship orders.

4. Gift cards

Chewy offers gift card deals around holidays throughout the year. Watch for these in the banner across the top of the site. For example, for a limited time around Valentine’s day, if you buy a $100 e-gift card, you get a $20 Chewy promo credit.

5. Check out “Today’s Deals”

The “Today’s Deals” link on the menu will show you all the awesome deals offered on Chewy.com. Sort by “best-selling” to see what others are snatching up. This usually gives a good idea of what’s a great deal. Currently, the Selesto flea collars are their best sellers, followed by the sale on American Journey dog food.

Watch your email/mail for Chewy codes and sales!

After you sign up for that Chewy account in step one above, Chewy will send you notifications of coupon codes, sales, and deals. Pay attention to the sales, even if you don’t need dog food immediately. Sometimes, especially with big labradors, the empty food bag sneaks up on you!

Chewy offers pet pharmacy items too. Save 20% off your first Chewy pharmacy item for your pet with promo code RX20. Or use code RXGIFT20 to get a $20 egift card when you spend $49 or more on prescriptions.

7. Keep in mind Chewy offers cheap dog + cat food too

Maybe you’re thinking, Holly, these ways to save are all well and good, but what if Chewy’s dog food costs a small fortune, to begin with?

I gotcha, frugal folks! Observe:

Some foods cost more than others, and Chewy.com has food for all kinds of budgets/needs. Unlike Petco, Chewy also offers cheap dog and cat food in addition to the Hills Diet and Blue brands! You don’t have to buy fancy schmancy organic, grain-free, gluten-free, carb-free dog food with Chewy!

Check out my last buy below with a $15 off Chewy code they sent me in the mail. Notice how I signed up for auto-ship to save an extra couple of bucks. I canceled auto-ship after I received the first order. Let’s face it folks, I only buy when I’m getting an outstanding deal. Walmart offers this same Iam’s dog food for $31.64, so Chewy’s initial sale price of $31.94 is pretty comparable, to begin with. When you add other ways to save on Chewy via auto-ship and the coupon code, their food was a much better deal at $24 per 29 oz bag. Factor in the cashback via Rebatesme, and the food costs $21.60!
